Instructions

• Open Astarte CD-Copy 2.0.3e
• Change the preferences to the following settings (this settings could also
be used for duplicating most other formats on the Mac (means PSX, Mac, Wintel,
Unix, Amiga, Hybrid, Audio, etc) :
- New disc : No Warning
- Ignore read errors : Checked (doesn't matter, cause it wont change
the duration of your audio tracks)
- XA Save Mode : Normal
- Allow Rock Ridge Names : Checked (doesn't matter for DC CD-R duplication,
cause its only important for Unix and Amiga CD-Rs)
- Format : SoundDesigner II (audio CD images could only be saved
using this format)
- Quality : 44 KHz, 16 Bit, Stereo (means audio CD standard)
- Secure Audio Read (slower) : Unchecked (thats the overlap feature
of your CD ROM/DVD drive. It just influence the quality of the
audio track (usually if there any audio track read problems, they
are done by over sampling), but not the duration of the same)
- Read ISRC : Unchecked (DC CD-Rs doesnt contain ISRC, cause that
code is only used by audio CDs)
- Save Audio Pause : Checked (that one is needed for building
correct audio CD images. And you will have to build such in one of
the four duplication scenarios)
- Ignore Q-Codes : Unchecked (There are no indexes (which the Q-Codes
contains for example) within the audio tracks of DC CD-Rs)
• Insert your source DC CD-R in your CD-ROM/DVD drive
• Then there are four possible scenarios you have to choose from :
1 - If the source CD-R contains only one session, then duplicate the CD-R
the same way you did with your PSX, Audio or single session Mac, Wintel,
Hybrid, Amiga and Unix CD :
- Press Cmd-A.
- Press Cmd-S (and then select your destination at the file dialog).
- When the track saving is done, press Cmd-Q.
2 - If the source CD-R contains two sessions and the first session contains a
ISO track :
- Press Cmd-A (and don't forget : You have to remember by the name of the ISO
images which ISO image were part of which session).
- Press Cmd-S (and then select your destination at the file dialog).
- When the track grapping is done, press Cmd-Q.
3 - If the source CD-R contains two sessions and the first session contains only
one (!!) audio track :
- Press Cmd-A.
- Press Cmd-S (and then select your destination at the file dialog).
- When the track saving is done, press Cmd-Q.
4 - If the source CD-R contains two sessions and the first session contains more
then one audio track :
- Select all audio tracks of the first session.
- Select from the menu "File" the item "Save Image..." (and then select your
destination at the file dialog).
- When the track saving is done, select the ISO track within the second
session.
- Press Cmd-S (and then save the ISO image to the same folder as you saved
the audio image right before).
- When the track saving is done, press Cmd-Q.

Scenario 1

• Open Adaptec Toast 4.1.1.
• Change the preferences to the following settings (this settings could also
be used for duplicating most other formats on the Mac (means PSX, Mac, Wintel,
Unix, Amiga, Hybrid, Audio, etc.) :
- PowerKey/Rebound Compatible : Unchecked (you could also check it, but then you
testing one of the hidden, but untested Toast features : Burning with Toast
running as a background application).
- Prefer Disc-At-Once : Checked
The other preference settings doesnt matter, but its safer to use the
"Generous (Speed x 2MB)" setting for the RAM cache.
• Switch to the Finder.
• Drag your file or files to the Toast icon or inside the Toast applications window.
• Switch to Toast.
• Click on the "Write CD..." button.
• Insert a blank CD-R into your CD-R drive.
• Click on the "Write Disk" button.
• When the CD-R writing is done, eject the CD-R and you made a duplication of your DC CD-R.

Scenario 2

• Open Adaptec Toast 4.1.1.
• Change the preferences to the following settings (this settings could also
be used for duplicating most other formats on the Mac (means PSX, Mac, Wintel,
Unix, Amiga, Hybrid, Audio, etc.) :
- PowerKey/Rebound Compatible : Unchecked (you could also check it, but then you
testing one of the hidden, but untested Toast features : Burning with Toast
running as a background application).
- Prefer Disc-At-Once : Checked
The other preference settings doesnt matter, but its safer to use the
"Generous (Speed x 2MB)" setting for the RAM cache.
• Change the format (either by selecting it from the menu "Format" or by using the pop up
menu inside the applications window) to "Multitrack CD-ROM XA".
• Click on the "Data..." button (and then select the ISO image from the first (!!) session.
BTW : Dont even think about dragging your image files to the Toast icon or the Toast
applications window, cause that way the format will automatically change to "Disc Image"
and you gonna write a non-working DC CD-R).
• Click on the "Write CD..." button.
• Insert a blank CD-R into your CD-R drive.
• Click on the "Write Session" button.
• When the CD-R writing is done, eject the CD-R.
• Click on the "Data..." button (and then select the ISO image from the second (!!) session.

• Double-click on the audio CD image (that way Adaptec Jam 2.6 opens).
• Click on the "Write CD..." button.
• Insert a blank CD-R into your CD-R drive.
• Click on the "Write Session" button.
• When the CD-R writing is done, eject the CD-R.
• Quit Adaptec Jam 2.6.
• Open Adaptec Toast 4.1.1.
• Change the preferences to the following settings (this settings could also
be used for duplicating most other formats on the Mac (means PSX, Mac, Wintel,
Unix, Amiga, Hybrid, Audio, etc.) :
- PowerKey/Rebound Compatible : Unchecked (you could also check it, but then you

Note:

The only game which cant be duplicated that way I find until now is "Sega Extreme Sports",
cause it contains some sort of copy protection at the last audio track which expands the
last audio track for 2 sectors. You cant see that at the audio track file itself, cause Toast
or Jam shows the correct duration, but when you write it to CD-R the last audio track becomes
2 sectors longer, therefore the second session is moved for this 2 sectors and the whole CD-R
is useless. You could try to shorten the last audio track manually by 2 sectors by using the
audio track editing part of Toast or Jam. But this is still fully untested.
